Jing Yu is regarded as one of the pioneering figures of contemporary Chinese Suprematist art, dedicating his long-term artistic practice to exploring the profound relationship between mathematics, mathematical logic, and visual art. Centred on abstract structures as his primary visual language, his works integrate geometric order, logical deduction, and the spirit of the present era into painting and spatial expression, seeking to establish a new artistic dimension between rationality and sensibility.
Jing Yu believes that art is not merely an expression of emotion, but also a means of recording and reconstructing the structures of the present era. Guided by the concept of “documenting the present era through abstraction,” he responds to the spiritual condition of contemporary society, the progression of civilization, and individual consciousness through symbols, order, fields of colour, and spatial relationships.
His works forge a distinctive path between Eastern philosophy and Western modernism, transforming the Chinese cultural notions of “Qi” (vital energy), “Shi” (dynamic force), and “Emptiness” into a modern abstract visual system, while continuously advancing the development and expression of contemporary Chinese abstract art within an international context.
